Playground Pals

Our Playground Pals are a team of dedicated Year 6 pupils who help to make breaktimes and lunchtimes happy, safe and enjoyable for everyone. Children can apply to become a Playground Pal in Year 6, taking on a special leadership role that allows them to support younger pupils and contribute positively to school life.

Playground Pals act as friendly role models on the playground, helping to ensure that every child feels included, valued and supported. They are easily recognisable around the school and are always ready to offer a helping hand or a friendly smile.

As part of their role, Playground Pals:

• Look out for children who may be feeling lonely or upset, helping them to make friends and ensuring that no one is left out.
• Organise and lead games and activities, encouraging children to be active, have fun and play cooperatively together.
• Support positive relationships by helping children resolve minor disagreements through kind communication and problem-solving skills.
• Work alongside staff, acting as approachable role models and helping younger pupils seek support when needed.
• Promote inclusion and kindness, ensuring that our playground is a welcoming environment where everyone can enjoy their breaktimes.

Being a Playground Pal is both a privilege and a responsibility. The role helps pupils develop important leadership, communication and teamwork skills while giving them the opportunity to make a real difference to the daily lives of others. Through their commitment to caring for and supporting their peers, our Playground Pals help to create a playground where every child feels safe, happy and included.
