The Lily Squad

The Lily Squad are a group of enthusiastic pupil leaders who play an important role in promoting and developing the Catholic life of our school. As role models, they help to inspire others to live out our Gospel values through their words, actions and service to others. They are committed to helping our school community grow in faith and ensuring that Catholic Life remains at the heart of everything we do.

Members of the Lily Squad take an active role in planning and leading liturgies throughout the year. Whether celebrating important feast days, preparing prayer services or leading collective worship, they help pupils to come together in reflection, prayer and celebration. Through these opportunities, they encourage the whole school to deepen their relationship with God and understand the importance of faith in everyday life.

The Lily Squad meet regularly to discuss Catholic Life across the school. During these meetings, they share ideas, evaluate current initiatives and consider ways to further strengthen our Catholic ethos. They act as representatives for their peers, gathering suggestions and feedback from classes and ensuring that all children have a voice in shaping the spiritual life of the school.

Charitable outreach is an important aspect of the Lily Squad's work. They help to organise and promote fundraising events for a range of charitable causes, encouraging pupils to think about the needs of others both locally and globally. Inspired by CAFOD's Catholic Social Teaching animal characters, they promote key principles such as human dignity, solidarity, participation, stewardship and the common good. Through these values, they encourage everyone to recognise their responsibility to care for one another and for God's creation.

Many members of the Lily Squad also lead lunchtime clubs linked to the liturgical year, providing opportunities for younger pupils to learn more about the seasons and celebrations of the Church. These clubs may include prayer activities, craft projects, storytelling, reflection and discussions about saints and feast days. By leading these activities, Lily Squad members develop their own leadership skills while helping others to engage with and enjoy their faith in a meaningful way.

Through their dedication, leadership and service, the Lily Squad make a valuable contribution to our school community. They help to create an environment where faith is lived out each day and where every child is encouraged to follow Jesus' example of love, compassion and service to others.
