At Joseph's, we believe that music is a powerful way to inspire creativity, build confidence and bring our community together. Through singing, listening, composing and performing, children develop a love of music while gaining the knowledge and skills needed to express themselves musically.

We use the Kapow Primary Music scheme to deliver a broad, engaging and progressive music curriculum from Reception to Year 6. Children explore a wide range of musical styles, genres and cultures, developing their understanding of rhythm, pitch, tempo, dynamics and notation through practical and enjoyable lessons.

Pupils are encouraged to listen critically, perform with confidence and create their own compositions. Through regular opportunities to sing, play instruments and work collaboratively, they develop creativity, resilience and a sense of achievement.

Our aim is to foster a lifelong appreciation of music, enabling every child to experience the joy of making music and to recognise its importance as a form of expression, communication and celebration.
